Scagglethorpe North Yorkshire

Scagglethorpe
Scagglethorpe is a village 3 miles east of Malton and Norton on Derwent in North Yorkshire.  The village sits on the immedate southern fringe of the A64T York to Scarborough road.  

It lies on the northern foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds, just over 1 mile morth of Settrington and 1 mile west of Rillington.

The village is principally a Y in shape, with dwellings constructed along these frontages.   

Dwellings are of mixed design, consisting of older cottages of brick construction under pantiles or slates to more modern, individually designed dwellings.  Farms and smallhodlings fringe the village in these predominantly rural surroundings.

Local village amenities include the Methodist Chapel and a village hall.

The grass verges banking the streets form an inteesting topographical feature especially where the levels split.

The Ham and Cheese Inn is the local hostelry and has food and drink service as well as serviced letting accommodation.
